Cinema Beans: The Comedy
My first kiss was also awkward (imagine that?). Swanson travels around the city in The Comedy, coming across various groups of people and making the interaction as unbearably awkward as possible. The people never know how to respond, much like I didn't know how to handle the silence between my and My First Kiss. Finally she took control, much like Swanson, and kissed me, leaving me in a stupor. Except the kiss made me feel happy, and The Comedy made me feel empty. But I like that, because I'm fucked up.
My first kiss was awkward. I wasn't terrified, but I was scared. And because I felt awkward I made a joke immediately following the kiss. I said "Way to do my job" or something like that, since she had kissed me. So we laughed, because she had a sense of humor like mine (awkward). This mixture of newness, laughter, a sort of mocking of a serious moment, and my slight fear: these are the same ingredients contained in The Cabin in the Woods. I don't know if My First Kiss saw Cabin, but if she did she was probably way more satisfied with the movie than with my kiss. (I say that, but I'm only deprecating. I so win.)
