Cinema Beans: The Kid with a Bike
Well, The Kid with a Bike didn’t leave me with any rashes, but it did wash over me with a warm coat of sunlight, in the strangely satisfying and perverse way the Dardenne brothers always seem to do. And, even with the optimistic culmination of Cyril racing away from his negligent father—the ever-present red shirt mounted atop trusty bicycle—to his nurturing new mother (who dons a flowery dress), there’s a slight twinge of sunburn radiating from that small spot on your back the sunblock just couldn’t reach. Cyril discovers happiness, but not before some slight punishment for his violent actions, as he falls from a tree and then slowly scoots away on his bike. You’ll get a tan, but make sure you bring your SPF 30.

Sunshine makes you happy, right? And doesn't 21 Jump Street make you happy? Sunshine makes you feel warm and fuzzy, and doesn't Jonah Hill going from lame to cool and getting to kiss the girl he's been too chicken to kiss make you feel warm and fuzzy? Doesn't Sunshine, if you bask, unprotected, in its glow for too long burn your skin and make you feel awful? And doesn't Jump Street, if you watch too much of it, give you a rash?
